Children are removed from their homes and placed into foster care because families are going through a crisis, resulting in an unsafe home, abuse or neglect. Abuse is the intentional infliction of harm, whether it is physical, emotional, or sexual harm. Neglect is the failure to provide the necessary care for an individual, resulting in that individual's injury or illness.

Dr. Lanette R. Madison is the Eastern Missouri Regional Director and works in the St. Louis community. She firmly believes that, “your thoughts create your destiny and with God, all things are possible”. She is a proud mother of two children whom she adores; a 27-year-old son who is an Engineering Technician III at Black and Veatch and a 19-year-old daughter who is a theatre major at Abilene Christian University.
